Range: this is the name of the selected IP range.

 

Device name: enter here a descriptive name for the selected device.

 

Device Type: select the type of device you are enter here.

 

IP: enter here the last three digits of the IP planned (or assigned) to this device. The IP address is completed with the network IP entered before.

 

Ping IP: if you are running the program in the network, and you already connected the devices, you may press this button to verify the response of the device. Note that normally only PCs and some routers can response to PING requests, and even then, the device may be configured to block the response. Therefore, a PING failure does not mean that the device is improperly connected - there is a number of reasons why the PING may fail.

An additional verification takes place when you press Ping IP, the network is examined like explained in LAN checking, and if the IP is found you will see a succeed message - otherwise a fail message will shown.

 

Card name: if the device have an identifiable network card, you can enter the brand here. If the device is a PC and you are running IP.Tree in it, you can obtain the card name automatically using Local_IP_List.

 

MAC address: every device with a network interface would have a MAC address for its network plug, you can record it here.

 

Serial number: enter here the serial number of the device.

 

Model: enter here the model description of the device.

 

When you press "Save", you will receive a warning if the IP number is the same as another existing one.
